Do not want my blog to dry out – so I figured I should drop a new post in here.

It has been a while since we finished our DIVA game – and I wanted to post it here for you all to look at.

I know it is pretty scary!

Anyways, we had a lot of fun executing the project/game – a little less actually seing the product of our creation.

Ken and I are now well in the planning and execution of our final project.

It will be done utilizing a DSLR creating a stop motion video, incorporation some interesting digital effects.

I do not want to spoil the fun, so I will wait with saying anything else until our screenings.

Hello everybody.

It has been a while since my last post – and lots has happened.

I guess the most important thing was me beating ken in our little foot race? We will have enough time for a rematch during this new project.

We are still working out some details for this new game, and I am certain that it will be amazing and fun.

I also found out this week that my military service is starting in 20 days now. I must say I was quite surprised to find out that I was expected ready for “battle” in Norway that soon. Apparently someone named Benjamin forgot to send in a letter last summer stating I was not coming. What an idiot, eh? Well the letter is blue, very ugly, and in addition to that it is very small. So I am pretty sure he lost it somewhere during last years summer break.

Anyways, I cleaned up his mess, and I am 99% sure that they will leave him alone, atleast until 2011.

During our critique round on Monday some of us noticed the fire hose test that was going on in the background. I found the scene fairly interesting and wanted to post this picture.

So as you all saw during the critiques, my final piece looks like this:

And the concept was playing on the idea of communication in multicultural areas, and the barriers that comes with it. Ken and I met a few barriers ourselves trying to pick up our vinyls on Monday morning, finding out they had forgot to cut them. But with the speed of Ben, and the brain of Ken, we managed to work everything out in about an hour.

Anyways, we are still working on our Google Maps project, and we will start doing animation on the map during Reading week. We still have a long way to go – but I am sure it will be an interesting project.

So I am finally posting my old Vinal Mock-up, and after thinking it through, and speaking with Suzi in class, I decided to change my concept!

I am printing the new Vinyl tomorrow, and posting it on my location Monday morning.

This is the old one, and was representing our ability to overcome challanges (i agree, it is pretty lame).

I apologize for my offensive title. But I just came across a sound recording from the set of Terminator: Salvation, the newest in the franchise, where actor Christian Bale literally mouth rapes the DP on set for walking in on a scene.

Google Maps EPIC Challenge

In the RED corner: Benjamin Elliott Loeb

In the BLUE corner: Kenneth YK Tsui

Ken and I have come up with a plan for our Google Maps Project, and it involves the greatest challenge in Emily Carr history. Our challenge is to through the duration of a 60 minute DV-tape get from the front of the Emily Carr University’s North Building, on Granville Island, to the Vancouver Art Gallery, downtown. The twist, however, is that the contestant with the longest route wins.

The two DV-tapes will be imported and condensed down for the final piece. This piece will contain a 4-way split screen, two screens for the videos, and two screens for individual google maps which will animate our routes for the audience.

The rules are as follows:

The individual has to get from point A, Emily Carr, to point B, Vancouver Art Gallery, within the 60 minutes of the DV-tape.

The individual can not walk down the same road twice.

The individual can only utilize his own feet: Any form for other transportation is against the rules.

The individual has to call out the intersections passed for the camera.

The Digital Era

So, I just finished watching another one of those films Ken would call - COMPLETE BULLSHIT!
And as always, it was very enjoyable and entertaining – and included a vast number of digital effects and links to the digital era we are in, or at least heading towards. It was almost like a “YOU ARE NEVER ALONE” statement, or “YOU ARE ALWAYS BEING WATCHED”. Ooh – scary stuff!

Final Panorama

So my Deep Cove panorama got swapped out!

I wanted to try something different. Something closer to my first idea involving a subject. I took these photos from my balcony at night – utilizing a desk lamp for key light. This is still fairly far away from my original idea – but I really like the look and feel that this panorama has.

I stitched this together manually, as I found a great way to do this – allowing for no visible trace of any merging at all.
